Chinese Universities Unite for the First Time at the 2025 Global Model WHO in Geneva
On October 28, 2025, the Global Model World Health Assembly 2025, co-organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), officially opened at WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. For the first time, a joint Chinese delegation was formed under the coordination of GYGA, bringing together students from multiple universities and high schools across China.

The First Cross-Level Chinese Joint Delegation
For the first time, a joint Chinese delegation was formed under the coordination of the Global Youth Governance Association (GYGA), bringing together students from the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Huazhong Agricultural University, Northeast Forestry University, Communication University of China, Liaoning University, and Shandong Provincial Experimental High School. Students from Peking University, Tsinghua University, and other leading institutions also participated.
This marked the first time Chinese institutions jointly organized a cross-level delegation — spanning high school, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students — to participate in a global Model UN assembly.
Four Days of Substantive Global Governance Debate
Over four days, delegates represented various countries and engaged in debate and negotiation on the following agenda items, ultimately adopting resolutions:
- Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence
- Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Control
- Social Connections for Global Health
Cultural Exchange and Closing Honours
Beyond the conference floor, delegates showcased Chinese culture during the Cultural Night, performing traditional music on the hulusi, demonstrating paper-cutting, and presenting handmade Chinese knots — earning enthusiastic responses from youth delegates worldwide. At the closing ceremony, all delegates received a certificate personally signed by WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

This event stands as a landmark moment for GYGA’s mission: empowering youth to engage with global governance and amplifying Chinese voices on the world stage.
